Students and Christian Education

I am so proud of our students. Tonight I was in attendance as our volleyball team played Johnson. They took all three games, but, more importantly, they improved since the last time I observed them play. They improved in every facet of the game of volleyball, but they also improved in their maturity and spirituality. I watched their coach instruct them during lost points and won points, and I watched the face of each girl as they listened intently in order to get better.

As all of our 6 grade -12 grade students endure a year in temporary facilities, they have been inspirational. They are excited and have taken ownership of their school. Students are why we do what we do. Christian education is so very important to me for several reasons.

1. Education is supposed to collide with morality. We have all heard the old clique, with great wisdom comes great responsibility. At WCA that is exactly what I see developing in our students, a great sense of responsibility.
2. Whether you are a Christian or just a patriotic citizen, you will understand that successful education must produce students who strive to work for the greater good. That involves a selfless attitude and that attitude will only be produced in a system that is rooted in the truth. That is a school that is rooted in Christ.
3. Education rooted in Christ is education that has, as its foundation, the truth, and that makes all the difference in the world. It is the truth that produces a consistent solid worldview that will not fail our students when the world throws everything it has at them.

This is why what we do is so very important. It is our students that are leading the way for us. I love them and am honored that God has called me to be part of them. This is Westminster!
